Join us for upcoming events and community gatherings. We can't wait to see you there.
The first week of the 2026–27 school year is officially in the books at Lourdes Public Charter School, and it has been wonderful to see students, families, and staff settle back into the rhythm of school.
Our small-school environment was on full display this week. Students had opportunities to reconnect with friends, meet new classmates, become comfortable with their classroom routines, and begin the year's learning. Teachers have been getting to know where students are academically while establishing the expectations and relationships that will guide us throughout the year.
As we begin the year, our focus is not simply on academics. We want Lourdes to be a place where students feel that they belong, where they are known as individuals, and where they learn the importance of responsibility, respect, and contributing to their community. Our R.O.A.R. values—Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility—will continue to help guide that work.
There is already plenty happening at Lourdes. On Friday, September 11, we will hold our first school assembly of the year. The assembly will recognize students who participated in summer reading while also giving the entire school an opportunity to come together and celebrate the beginning of a new year.
We are also working to reestablish active participation in our Parent Teacher Club (PTC). The PTC has historically played an important role in supporting student activities and school events; previous Board records, for example, document PTC-sponsored reading celebrations, field trips, potlucks, and other activities.
Parents do not need to make a large time commitment to participate. There are opportunities to help in different ways, and we are working to make participation as accessible as possible, including virtual involvement when appropriate. This is also an important part of strengthening family and community involvement in the school. Lourdes' accreditation work specifically identifies increasing stakeholder leadership opportunities, including participation in the Parent Club, as an area for continued growth.
Parents who would like information about participating in the PTC are encouraged to contact Head of School Mark Page. Whether you are interested in taking an active role, helping occasionally, or simply learning more about what the PTC does, please reach out. There is no obligation that comes with asking for information.
Most importantly, thank you to our families and staff for helping make the first week such a positive one. A small school depends upon the relationships between students, families, staff, and the surrounding community. We are excited about what we can build together during the year ahead.
Welcome back, Lourdes!
